There are quite a number of things on tv, theatre or film that are indeed entertaining. But not many are well written, and well conveyed. (Creatively appreciated art, one that explores the limited avenues and enhances it as oppose to being overly resourceful by creating more options thus not having much focus.) This is especially appreciated for the ones that have a significant focus for the story and characters versus, props, animation, graphic, cinematogrophy, action, etc. Extras – Christmas Special 2008 episode, is one of the few that hit home for me.

“A Black American” by Smokey Robinson (Def Poetry) Season 3, Episode 7 (S03 E07) Original Air Date: 16 May 2003

Though I don’t agree with all that was said, but wow. Some brilliant perspective. Powerful. Remarkable.

Being

Kane & Abel

One of the things I look forward to when travelling, which should also apply when at home, is buying second hand books. The one I purchased a few days ago, is sold old, that its scent is toxic like. I can’t help but presume it hazardous.

Sometimes a piece of work can be so magnificant, that it moves your heart arrestingly, if not more. Deservedly so.

One such, is Professor Edward Said’s book Orientalism.

Think

Recently someone said this about me online, “I like this guy he so rational and he’s so true! He’s a true thinker.”  (I trust many would disagree.) This came in the same day I was actively expressing online, my views on a particular issue related to human & civil rights.

Some months ago I read the Introduction of Practical Thinking by Professor Dr. Edward De Bono. I’m not sure if the above quote about me is parallel to De Bono’s definition, but this is what the Prof had to say about it,

As soon as one can talk about thinking one is on the way to regarding it as a skill like playing tennis or cooking. Far too many people regard thinking as a matter of inborn intelligence – which is not. In my researches and experiments I have again and again come across very intelligent people who turned out to be very poor thinkers. Nor have I found that thinking skill has much to do with education, for some of the best educated people (Ph.D.s, university lecturers and professors, senior business executives, etc.) have also been poor thinkers. To regard thinking as a skill rather than as a gift is the first step towards doing something to improve that skill.
