Few days ago I was at the 7th Asean Leaders Forum. At the session for Young Leaders Forum, the panelists were Abidin Muhriz (Institute for Democracy and Economics Affairs), Benjamin Quinones (Coalition of Socially Responsible SMEs) and Karim Raslan (Karim Raslan Associates).

I tweeted live as the session was going on, they are as below,

*scroll all the way down and read from bottom up, as I can’t be arsed to edit this whole thing

Turnout

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhHrydKWJDw

I knew this video existed, but I only just saw it today. Kudos to Shamsul and Edzuan for working this up.

FYI, this took place shortly after the assaults made on places of worship in Malaysia.

Proud Genes

.

Recently, friend of mine, mother of two, shows me pictures of her son shortly after telling mewhat kind of a man in her view is handsome. As we view photos from her iPhone, the conversation went,

.

See see my son. He’s four.

Oh. Strong face. Looks like your husband.

No. He looks better.

Of course he does. Your son has you genes, your husband doesn’t.

Yea. That’s right. Look at him. He’s so handsome.

Uhuh.

I’m so proud something that good looking came out my c*nt.

Charming Mistake

As a background to the character of the coming story, some weeks ago, I took a former student of mine to lunch. When I indicated I’ll be paying for the both of us, the 17 year old kindly offered dutch. Kindly so until I detected, it was a question posed to me, whether or not I could afford it.

Recently he called,

Oi fckr where are you?’

Working. Would you rather me somewhere else?

I just got to MidValley.

Well done.

Eh? Oh. I called the wrong Zain. Heh heh. Sorry dude. Take care man.

This Is It

michael_jackson_rehearsal this is it.

I had two tickets to the premiere of the MJ movie and went with my mother. The whole movie, was generally footage from his preparation and rehearsals for the tour that never happened. At one point, not a full dress rehearsal (but then with Michael you can’t always tell), he asks the ‘audience’ to clap.

In the cinema, my mother started clapping.

I am proud of Eco Knights‘ initiative organise the second Eco Film Fest.

EFF2009-Films

In middle 2008, I received a message from one Yasmin Ras, founder of EK. One thing led to another, and since then, EK and RA became strategic partners for one project. By far, one of the best person and organisation I’ve worked along with. She has also in her personal capacity assisted me in certain matters, and also RA by being a committee member for some of its event based projects.

Watching her husband take lead for one of the teams briefing at RA's Merdeka Train Party project.

We play kejar-kejar (or its england name, cops and robbers) in dataran merdeka. (Click here) ‘Main Dengan Rakyat‘ is a public initiative aimed at reclaiming public spaces for what they are supposed to be… public recreational spaces for the rakyat, and not merely as tourists attractions.

Not the envelope in question. This was a birthday present sent by PA when she was in Peru, which surprisingly (at least) arrived on the month of my birthday, despite the hassle she got from the postal office. Note the precaution on the address, which I find hilarious, underlined 'MALAYSIA, ASIA.'

Recently, someone dropped off a CD for me at a restaurant. My cousin picked it up on my behalf. Last night he narrated to me what took place.

I’m here to pick up a CD. It’s for Zain HD. It’s from X.

Oh? Hmmm…oh yea yea there’s a CD here. Who is it for?

Zain HD.

Oh. Hmm…I don’t know. Is it for Faris?

Faris?

Yea. It’s for Faris.

No? Not for Faris?

No no. Zain HD.

Oh okay. I don’t know. Maybe this is it anyway. I guess. Here you go.

.

We’re still wondering from where did he pluck the name Faris. The CD in question, was in a brown envelope with one thing written on it. ‘Zain HD.’

A thought crossed my mind. One that relates to the title of this post. Shortly after I realise it also does relate doubly, as I noted to self there’s only one person I could aptly think of, to share it with. Thus I delivered it in a handphone text, and (to clear the pun) now here with you,

‘…this is the last night of terawih! I imagine you would get it, when at that thought, I say it calls for both a :( and a :)’

.

Selamat Hari Raya.
