A canvas, on the façade of a building. Animated.

This project was highlighted to me by Niki Cheong. When I was in NYC, I was meant to meet Charlie Todd of ImprovEverywhere but our schedules did not meet. Their work, I believe has influenced and waved to vast regions around the world today especially in art, activism and advertising, in the same way civil rights movements, political revolutions and other similar milestones. I understand that you might feel I’m exaggerating, but have a forensic look at how (some) things are shifting*. Appreciate that, along with its potential, you might agree. the If you still don’t, then I must declare my lack of will in assisting the semi-intelligent.
‘For our latest mission we had several hundred agents spend a day at Coney Island / Brighton Beach wearing black tie attire. We covered a mile-long stretch of beach with a diverse group of people of all ages (from babies to sixty-somethings) laying out, playing games, and swimming in the ocean, all in formal wear. Agents were instructed to find cheap tuxedos and ball gowns at thrift stores for the occasion.’

*For example, how South Africa’s liberation from apartheid laws are one of the many elements fueling and supporting the fight against that same discriminatory system in Israel since the 90’s. In fact leaders in both regions (Mandela and Said, to name one instance) are connected in the struggle on this area.

On Wednesday around 11.45pm, I’ll be on 8TV Quickie to speak about PARAMKL and on Saturday at 5pm till buka, alongside Grey Yeoh, Chi Too and Liew Seng Tat, Simon Soon and Hariati Azizan, I’ll be speaking at Taman Jaya Park, PJ.
It is part of GENG at CHAI Project Series. The one I’m involved in is ‘Playing in the Public: picnic and chat with flashmobbers, party poppers and house carriers…’ Click here to see the Facebook link for this.
*I’m somewhat familiar with Chi Too and Grey Yeoh. I trust that these two art practitioners will make your Saturday evening worth coming to this for.
That’s just my opinion. Which is normally right when yours is wrong.

One: Malaysians who want to see racism disappear r in essence seeking respect.Do maintain tht attitude 2wards foreign workers.Expats & labourers.
Two: If we can wish people around us, Deepavali, Xmas, get well soon, congrats, then I’m confident there are Malaysians who’ll wish Singaporeans happy birthday. If you would appreciate your neighbours wish you Happy Merdeka and what not, then you should do the same. Whatever country their from.
Tree: As an example: 100 trees is still a 100 trees. Given. But its also different in the context of a country with land size like Indonesia vs Singapore. Please argue fairly.

There are quite a number of things on tv, theatre or film that are indeed entertaining. But not many are well written, and well conveyed. (Creatively appreciated art, one that explores the limited avenues and enhances it as oppose to being overly resourceful by creating more options thus not having much focus.) This is especially appreciated for the ones that have a significant focus for the story and characters versus, props, animation, graphic, cinematogrophy, action, etc. Extras – Christmas Special 2008 episode, is one of the few that hit home for me.

The photo above, is a Christian church in West 4, Manhattan. On the ground floor of that same building, obscurely, is a mosque and Islamic centre, where I had the chance to do Juma’a prayers there just two weeks ago. The same time New Yorkers were debating the issue of the construction.
.
Watch the video (click here to watch extended version) in this post, of the defense against the opposition of the building of the Islamic Mosque and Cultural Centre, and the support for it, by the mayor of New York city, as well as leaders of other religions.
.
I understand that there are some who might be comfortable with either of the two cases above, but keep in mind a few important concepts living and life. Justice. Respect. Society.

In late May, I started travelling, marking the longest trip I’ve done thus far. It is now day 65 of 68 and if given the choice, I’d be in either Middle East or Central Africa.
.
I was in Iceland. A place where I enjoy observing the tone of humour, creativity and attitude in the advertisements.
.
Now I am back in London. A place where I’ve been to far too often, losing much of its appeal to me, but foresee more visits.
.

On Saturday, God willing, I’ll be back in Kuala Lumpur. Though I love the place, I have yet to be away from KL long enough to miss it.
.
What I do miss is being in town, as that’s when productivity can soar.Making things happen, getting things done.
.
.
I miss creative process. It seems, working as much as I can while travelling (Day 37 of 60) is insufficient. Little is the room for expansion, progress. All the creative outlet that was available thus far, has been exhausted. I don’t miss the comfort of routine and of home, in fact, am quite detached from it at the moment that’s it at most, a subconscious.
August. Soon will be room, again, to making things happen, getting things done.
Not too long ago, me and some others started Wago (wago.com.my), an ideas consultancy company. The startup would do work that I already have been doing since before its inception.
As a consultancy, good ideas come often but great ones come rare. Clients who have the vision to take on one, can be near impossible, thus the opportunity to even get to do one is quite the dream. Above is an example of one. Click on link to see video. http://ZainHD.com/2010/06/video-work-id-like-to-do/
Note 1: While the idea above uses social media as a platform, and me too often for most of my work, I hope people in social media either practitioners, enthusiasts and businesses, don’t get too ahead of themselves, being semi-intelligent, by focusing their credits and compliments to social media. In essence, it is the idea, the big idea that is remarkable about it.
Note 2: Philips is the brainchild of the Dutch. Eindhoven is one of the youngest town in The Netherlands, that was actually started and developed by the company Philips as their base. So when in the video it states that this campaign was on Dutch TV, take it with a pinch of salt. It’s okay if you don’t have salt near your computer. It’s a figure of speech.
