This is what you can call a show. I’ve been observing a number of stage performances over the past few years, and a great number of musicians, forget when they are on stage, they are there to put on a show. Otherwise, it’s almost as good as getting another band to play your songs exactly as is.

In reference to the previous post, the boat is set to leave at dawn, on Wednesday 15 September. We left the jetty at about 8.45pm today, Wednesday (see pic above), to another jetty nearby to stock up on non-drinking water and complete the boat with life jackets. We leave this jetty at dawn for Pulau Kapas to pick-up someone and then to Tioman which should take one day and night to get there. Meanwhile, the delay has somewhat made me edgy as I have neither been writing (not something I do often anyway) nor have I been doing work. In essence, an outlet. Ironically I did receive an email that demanded me of that, except it might mean me cutting this trip short by disembarking in Singapore and catching the bus back to KL for a meeting.

.

As we completed loading the boat and doing other preparations, to my surprise, one of the guys involved in this expedition, a fifty something hippie with decades of experience on boats, organised a bon voyage Islamic prayer, which was performed on roof, due to the lack of space on deck, which made this still a small ceremony all the more close to heart.

A closing note, assuming that indeed I’ve never had Nasi Dagang in my life as I have no memory of it, today at tea time was my first, and my second was my next meal after that, on the roof of the boat.

Finishing two bowls of leftovers. What a splendid meal. Alhamdulillah.

I am now in Kuala Terengganu. I flew from Singapore to KT on Saturday 11 September (2nd day of Raya). I am here to join a maiden voyage of a recently massively refurbished boat from here, to Penang via stopovers in Tioman, Singapore and Port Dickson. The boat was meant to depart on Sunday 12 September but for reasons I won’t explain now, it has been delayed and the earliest we’ll leave, I imagine is tomorrow night (Tuesday 14 September). On this expedition is my brother-in-law (Captain), sister (Admiral), their almost two year old son and about 10 others. I have never done a trip of this nature and look forward to it. So far, I’ve been enjoying myself since I’ve gotten here. Bon viaje.

Video should speak for itself I imagine. Point to note, John Legend was once working at top management consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group.

Thank you Afia Danial for sharing this. I dream of working on something like this. Either, or both, as an idea/concept or as an effect of change. Spot on by being simple yet remarkable.

A canvas, on the façade of a building. Animated.

Worth you ten minutes to see what Tukar Tiub has to say. Although not mind blowing, still not the stuff you’ve heard before.

This project was highlighted to me by Niki Cheong. When I was in NYC, I was meant to meet Charlie Todd of ImprovEverywhere but our schedules did not meet. Their work, I believe has influenced and waved to vast regions around the world today especially in art, activism and advertising, in the same way civil rights movements, political revolutions and other similar milestones. I understand that you might feel I’m exaggerating, but have a forensic look at how (some) things are shifting*. Appreciate that, along with its potential, you might agree.  the If you still don’t, then I must declare my lack of will in assisting the semi-intelligent.

‘For our latest mission we had several hundred agents spend a day at Coney Island / Brighton Beach wearing black tie attire. We covered a mile-long stretch of beach with a diverse group of people of all ages (from babies to sixty-somethings) laying out, playing games, and swimming in the ocean, all in formal wear. Agents were instructed to find cheap tuxedos and ball gowns at thrift stores for the occasion.’

*For example, how South Africa’s liberation from apartheid laws are one of the many elements fueling and supporting the fight against that same discriminatory system in Israel since the 90′s. In fact leaders in both regions (Mandela and Said, to name one instance) are connected in the struggle on this area.
