One time, some time ago, a group of friends were sitting about, chatting about. One, mentioned Burkina Faso. Another went, ‘oh..is that a new Birkenstock line? I need a new pair!’
The latter now works for the international news network, Al-Jazeera.

In March 2007, I watched Alih PungGONG (above). One of the most amazing theatre productions. It was primarily a gamelan music performance, that captivated me beyond words, by a group called Rhythm in Bronze. They are 12 years old this year and will be throwing a show this weekend with a birthday theme. To illustrate the impression they left on me, I got tickets for the upcoming show two weeks ago.
